Paper Abstract:
|
This article presents a comparative analysis of the application protocols used to search information on Internet resources. The scope of the research is restricted to the following Internet resources: domain names, IP addresses, autonomous systems and routing information. The application protocols being compared are: Whois (Daigle, 2004), Joint Whois and CRISP (Newton, 2005a). The information service on Internet resources is provided authoritatively by the Internet registries (Karrenberg, 2001), which are organizations in charge of the provisioning and management of Internet resources. To contextualize the analysis is necessary to overview the state-of-the art in terms of application protocols used for finding information about a particular Internet resource. Additionally, the study emphasizes the deficiencies of the Whois protocol and the need to develop a new protocol to meet new advanced requirements. |
