Paper Abstract:      Both students and lecturers regard revision classes as an important step in the preparation for the final exam. Students can ask for clarifications on specific issues while lecturers suggest approaches to the exam. My personal experience with revision classes is not positive. Students come to classes with little preparation and I end up delivering a series of mini lectures where I repeat the same material taught during the semester. The incentive structure seems somehow distorted: the burden of work rests with me rather than with the students. The paper explains how I attempted to restore the ‘correct’ distribution of incentives by setting up what I called ‘Virtual Revisions’. The paper discussed the structure of the scheme and presents an appraisal of its effectiveness. The evidence shows that a very small number of students participated in the initiative; their results were on average better than the rest of the class; but participation in the revision scheme does not statistically explain the exam performance. This latter is mainly explained by the student’s actual ability. The implications of these results are discussed.
