Paper Abstract:
|
Web2.0 platforms are allowed to implement worlds completely virtual through technological devices, where the user has
the ability to be anywhere anytime and can do almost anything you can imagine. These worlds allow to rediscover the
senses through the use of technology. The virtual space can be used to bring students and teachers to this space because
they promote new concepts, new approaches and new strategies, that in the educational field have been changing the
paradigm of teaching and learning. This study aims to investigate how the students react to the three-dimensional
collaborative virtual environments and to what extent does it affect their learning behavior patterns.
OpenSim, an immersive virtual environment, was selected as a platform to develop one collaborative virtual environment
that presented instructional materials to support a math class for students of the 5th year of basic education. The results
suggested that the three-dimensional collaborative virtual environments can contribute to the involvement of the students
in the resolution of the activities motivating the spirit of help among students. |
