Paper Abstract:
|
The Endovascular Aneurysm Repair is a very expensive, non-routine procedure and thus not very often performed. Opportunities to practice in clinical settings are scarce. There is a need for a hands-on course Endovascular sizing in which final years residents Vascular Surgery and Intervention Radiology learn how to measure the size of an aneurysm to determine the correct size for the prosthesis. Because of time constraints, the course is only one day and all the time needs to be spend on the measuring and sizing of an aneurysm and its prosthesis. It is therefore important that participants have the same level of knowledge with regards to aneurysms and sizing prior to the course. The solution is e-learning. Two e-learning modules have been developed in cooperation with a technical expert in Endovascular Sizing and an e-learning specialist. The technical expert is responsible for delivering the content, the e-learning specialist is responsible for the instructional design of the e-learning modules. The topics in the e-learning modules are explained by text, graphics and videos. Each topic also contains a knowledge test which the participants can take after reviewing a specific topic. |
