Paper Abstract:
|
We have undertaken a one year research project exploring the factors affecting the engagement of undergraduate
veterinary students with mobile learning in the clinical workplace. Whilst the majority of students found the mobile
device useful for accessing email and web content, fewer were positive about recording clinical experiences using the
device. As well as technical issues, students also experienced socio-cultural issues that negatively impacted on their use
of the mobile device in front of clients. Additionally, the ease of use of the device for a particular activity was strongly
dependent upon the comparisons made with alternatives available for that activity. Future developments need to consider
the balance of investment to return, as well as comparative options for each specific activity of mobile learning. |
