Paper Abstract:
|
The purpose of this concise paper is to analyze the relationship between corruption and flows of foreign direct investment
(FDI) in developing countries. The FDI contributes to the economic development of these countries; however, the
corruption that usually occurs in these places can inhibit these investment flows. The hypothesis is that there is a positive
relationship between the absence of perceived corruption and the FDI. The analysis was performed with panel data,
modeling with fixed effects and random effects, covering the period from 2008-2019. The results show a positive and
significant relationship between the flow of FDI and the levels of corruption, confirming the study's hypothesis. Institutions
such as restrictions, formal or formal, being able to inhibit corruption, attract more FDI. |
