Paper Abstract:
|
Knowledge assessment is one of the key factors in theoretical research in learning psychology as well as in the practical
evaluation of instructional interventions. Therefore, the development and validation of new knowledge assessment tools
is of a great relevance. One recent technology is an online program called T-MITOCAR. Knowledge assessment with this
software uses natural language processing, and it also works with short texts of the kind typically written by students as
assignments. In our study we found out that the tool is to some extent sensitive to writing style. Writing style influences
the structure and the semantics of the models which underlie the writing. We discuss this sensitivity and show
implications for future research. |
