Paper Abstract:      Telepresence robots allow the user to attend events remotely and actively participate by controlling the robot's movement and directly addressing bystanders. Moreover, these robots proved an effective means for students with serious health issues to continue their learning process. Most of the previous studies investigated the impact of this technology on the user experience, failing to address their expectations before the adoption. The present work explored what undergraduate students with special motoric needs expect by employing a telepresence robot for attending classes. We found that respondents were concerned about their ability to control the robot, not to bother bystanders proficiently. Additionally, they were uncertain about how the look of the robot would have made them appear to their peers. Despite the potential of the telepresence robot to enhance social interactions, we found that students did not have specific expectations.
