Paper Abstract:      In our article we describe several problem-solving activities which were successfully implemented into on-line course of programming. These activities focus on development and deepening high-order thinking skills – creativity, analysis, evaluation and critical thinking – in the field of programming. Although first introduced within on-line course for informatics teachers, mentioned activities can be easily transformed to fit class needs of primary school. We analyze mentioned activities, their pros and cons and suggest ways to their further usage. We also explore the impacts activities bring to the individual learner and community as the whole. Design of learning activity as a combination of high-order thinking skills and social interactions certainly means a challenge. However, experiences of this kind meaningfully support prospect of life-long learning.
