Paper Abstract:
|
Never before has the time been riper for transforming our educational and training practices. The latest evolution of the
Internet, the so-called Web 2.0, has revolutionized the affordances of social media making it possible to realize century
old constructs such as social learning, social computing, and distributed intelligence on a global scale. What does this
mean for learning organizations? Is social media a perfect fit for knowledge management and performance improvement
or a close encounter? This paper focuses on the role of social media in the learning organization and related drivers and
barriers and will provide a 3-level cyclical model that demonstrates how social media can be leveraged to design personal
learning experiences (PLEs) and social learning experiences (SLEs). |
