Paper Abstract:      In this paper, we consider a methodology based on an additive multiattribute utility function that does not call for precise estimations of the inputs, such as utilities, attribute weights and performances of decision alternatives. The information about such inputs is assumed to be in the form of ranges, which may lead to overlapping overall utility intervals. In this situation, where it is very difficult to recommend any one of the alternatives under consideration, the assessment of nondominated and potentially optimal alternatives could reduce the set of alternatives of interest. However, the nondominated and potentially optimal set is not ranked and could still be too large for selecting one alternative. Therefore, we propose that the alternative that is nearest to the maximum utility and furthest from the minimum utility should be ranked first. If only one these conditions is satisfied, a ratio of the distances is then used. An application to a real complex problem, restoring a lagoon (Ringkøbing Fjord, Denmark) is investigated using the GMAA system.
