Paper Abstract:
|
As the goals of language teaching became more concerned with enabling learners to communicate with
members of other societies, the explorations of applied linguists into communicative approach have assumed
increasing relevance to the development in linguistics. Pragmatics focuses on the language use in
communication and then it is meaningful to introduce its theories or principles to language teaching for better
understanding of why to teach a language. Pragmatic awareness is thereby defined by integrating the
pragmatic perspectives into communicative teaching designs. The implementation of such designs attributes
to the improvement of instructional technology, in which Multimedia Lab has become widely used in
language teaching.
In the following paragraphs, understanding of pragmatics as well as its relation to language teaching will
be described first. Then, pragmatic awareness will be defined in details on the ground of language teaching
and how to implement it in multimedia lab will be illustrated step by step. Finally, a conclusion will be drawn
to show what pragmatic awareness means to language teachers. |
