Paper Abstract:
|
Research studies, practical project activities and real-world implementation experiences were focused on modeling and
building a virtual environment as a system to be used for learning Java programming language. The system is an
interactive programming environment with adopted graphical user interface that has almost flat learning curve and user
friendly interface with high logic of usage. It offers all of the essential functions needed to write, compile and run Java
code connecting to the Sun Javac compiler using batch files. At the same time it represents a learning environment with
three types of learning sources: textual tutorial type help, multimedia help, and ready provided templates of codes. It
validates programming syntax code errors in a special window adjusted for the user logic, and shows the result of the
execution. It provides all the functionalities needed without forcing the user to leave the systems framework. The main
focus here is at enhancing learning by focusing on the graphical user interface of the virtual learning system, its
development and usability since we consider it as the main vehicle to increased learning and knowledge dissemination.
The main contribution of this graphical user interface is that proposes a new structured approach when developing similar
graphical interfaces in order to enhance learning which is the final and primary goal. The software solution provided
proved to be increase learning in higher level and enriches the stage of java editors with its minimized requirements to
run and use especially with its assessed high level of usability. |
