Paper Abstract:      In order to have an effective and comprehensive eLearning or blended learning educational system, various types of media and communication tools need to merge. We have email, chat, IM, remote conferences (streaming audio and video), forums, white boarding, shared workspaces, and last, but not least, Web sites for collaborative activities. The present paper is a critical analysis of three applications currently in use by tutors and students of the Multimedia Center from "Politehnica" University of Timisoara. These applications are: remote surveillance, digital singage and the "VideoCSID" conference system (under construction at the moment). The Web interface used for delivering audio-video data was built using the following technologies: HTML, PHP, MySQL, JavaScript and streaming.
