Paper Abstract:      In this paper a Web-based map was considered as an interface for shared road safety information in (The Association of Southeast Asian Nations) ASEAN countries, considering that the traffic safety community needs to collect and analyze countrywide traffic safety data. Despite the development of information sharing methods and tools, there are still limitations in the way road accident data are shared and interpreted. This research based on the theoretical framework from Human centered design, information sharing and usability heuristics methods. The design principles and user interaction with maps are investigated in this paper. Different methods are used during this study. First a theoretical investigation of the design and implementation principles of maps is performed, then qualitative methods complemented with prototyping are used to collect user needs. Open Internet standards like the portrayal work flow model are used in the empirical part of the study. A usability test based on scenarios has been performed and the results show that a map produced with SVG gives good presentation and accessibility to different types of shared information for Web map users, and the results also show that acceptable levels of interaction and functionality are offered by the design principles used.
