Paper Abstract:
|
Integrated Care Pathways (ICPs) are multidisciplinary care plans which define the steps to be followed in the care of
patients with specific clinical problems. Their main purpose is to allow the translation of national guidelines into local
protocols, and the following adoption in the clinical practice. ICPs are designed to improve in particular the continuity of
care, defining the modalities by which the various members of the multidisciplinary care team should work together in
the hospital and in the community. ICPs have proven to be very effective in pursuing their objective, but in order to
achieve the best results their definition requires the adoption of collaborative learning techniques. In this work the
affinities between collaborative learning techniques and effective ICPs definition techniques are explored, leading to the
definition of suitable innovative online collaborative learning strategies to enhance the cooperative work within a
distributed multidisciplinary care team. |
