Paper Abstract:      The aim of this paper is to describe some challenges of information and communication technologies (ICT) interventions towards development in a developing country. This is achieved through an interpretive study of one type of ICT intervention in two village areas in the developing country of Bangladesh. While there is considerable interest regarding donor agencies or funding bodies and the ways ICT can be deployed in developing countries, identifying the actual impact at the micro (community) level is less observed in the literature. This research is an attempt to address this gap. We report the perceptions, attitudes and experiences of librarians/trainers, trainees, trainees’ guardians and general local people from the two villages. Our field studies uncover enthusiasm from the rural people towards ICT interventions despite some socio-cultural barriers, including their influence on the culture of the village.
