Paper Abstract:
|
Increasingly, new learners are encouraged to reflect on their work as part of the drive by the universities to help
improve their generic key skills, personal learning and future employability prospects. This paper investigates the extent
to which learners will instinctively use a mobile device to undertake some reflective writing as part of their work and
identifies certain key features of the device that influence the attractiveness of the device for this specific purpose. The
basis for this survey-based research is that mobile devices, such as mobile phones and PDAs, present the learner with a
better alternative to traditional pen and paper for recording and storing reflective entries while on the move. The research
findings of this survey highlight key factors that promote and impede reflective writing using mobile devices among
young adult learners. |
