Paper Abstract:
|
A revolution in world of education is under way. One of the most appropriate names for current era could be Technological era or Internet era or Robotic era as well. Computers, and technologies in general, have introduced great changes in teaching and learning approaches. This evolution seems fascinating both students, who improve their cognitive and metacognitive skills, and teachers, who can use multimodal approaches to stimulate students learning process more than traditional ones. One of the advantages in this new scenario is the worldwide sharing and reusing of digital learning resources. In order to guarantee a high degree of reusability of LOs it is necessary to take into account pedagogical information and, thus to decide what information needs to be included in metadata. Adequate description of the teaching resources, therefore, will not only facilitate teachers retrieval of the desired content but also, and above all, their redesign of learning/teaching contexts, which can thus improve the supply of distance learning contents. For this purpose, a set of specifications (named EXM Experiences Metadata) has been drawn up, that guides the teachers formulation of a description of all the variables and other factors serving to describe a learning/teaching scenario. Moreover, these reflections have led us to create a repository collecting teachers experiences, and providing them with information on the learning scenarios most suited to reuse of a given teaching resource. Thus the paper describes the architectural specifications and the functionalities of a Learning Object Repository able to collect learning content, to guide teachers in learning scenario description and to search the most appropriate LO for a learning/teaching context. |
