Paper Abstract:
|
In this paper, the integration of new technology into the structure of Visual Communications courses is investigated, particularly in relation to the way software is taught as part of the curriculum. The views and perceptions of staff were analysed to ascertain what was considered the most appropriate way of incorporating software, which is essential to the production process, into the learning and teaching of Visual Communications subjects. Software, in the visual communications field, has developed at a rapid pace, and this is seen in a positive light, allowing ideas and concepts to be realised that could only be described previously. The studio model of an integrated design process, where the designer moves seamlessly between ideas generation to visualisation and production, facilitates the use of software to implement a creative concept. |
