Paper Abstract:
|
It is important to monitor the understanding of students in a lecture in order to provide feed back regarding the lecture style. In addition, it is difficult to maintain the concentration of students at a lecture if it is composed only of explanations by the lecturer. An audience response system (ARS) has been developed to get responses from students to questions. This system has been recently used in lectures and its effectiveness has been reported. However, some problems exist from the aspects of cost and functionality. This paper presents an ARS we developed which uses cell phones as the response device. The reasons for selecting cell phones, system configuration and the system functions are described. The effectiveness of the developed system and the functions included in it have been confirmed by using it in lectures. |
