Paper Abstract:      The global market has encouraged research into designing cross-cultural interfaces. However, the way culture is currently integrated into interface design, in research ideas and practice, is not working. Problems occur at all stages of the design, from requirements gathering, to implementation and usability evaluation. Very few studies have looked in-depth at the suitability of usability assessment techniques used to conduct cross-cultural evaluation. This paper reviews existing usability evaluation methods for cross-cultural use. We then present a strategy for cross-cultural interface design and evaluation in the process of which we come to recommend a mixture of culturally flexible qualitative evaluation methods
