Paper Abstract:
|
E-learning can be applied to almost any field of knowledge. Nowadays, we can observe a growing use of learning
services where IT (Information Technology) is integrated. In order to guide the use of this technology in the right
direction, so that any learning process can be developed and adapted to the necessities of any student, we have developed
an e-learning methodology.
In this paper, we are going to briefly explain the methodology steps and also an intelligent tutor-based course that has
been developed under the methodology. The architecture of the course is built on three main subjects: the correct
application of contents, the students progress automatic evaluation and the use of friendly interfaces to interact with the
student. A 3D-avatar is used as the interface in charge of giving advice to the student and guiding him during the
knowledge transfer. Initially, the student self-evaluates his level and the course contents are automatically adapted. Once
the student finishes each lesson, the knowledge transfer is evaluated. If the students progress is not adequate, the
intelligent tutor will invite him either to review the main concepts of the lesson or to move to a lower level (depending on
the evaluation results). In the case of the students progress being satisfactory, the intelligent tutor will encourage the
student to start with the following lesson or to move to an upper level, if the student got an extraordinary evaluation.
The results obtained by using the course in a real knowledge transfer process, allow us to assure that both the
methodology and the intelligent tutor course, provide a proven way of knowledge transfer by using an e-learning
environment. |
