Paper Abstract:
|
Different tools can be used in learning environments; technological resources can enrich classroom activities and
augmented reality is yet another way to enable interactions between teacher and students, between students, and between
students and the subject of their study.
This paper describes a simple educational application that combines different tools and devices such as augmented reality
and low cost mobile platforms inserted in an educational context. The application was developed using the ARToolkit for
fast prototyping and its purpose was to prove the concept of using different mobile tools and technologies to verify how
learners transition and alternate from one tool to another. Initial tests were performed in a public school in the city of Sao
Paulo, Brazil. We conclude that even if some mobile platforms have limited computational power, the use of augmented
reality combined with other tools can represent a new form of representation and interaction and can be an innovative
way to use technology in the classroom. |
