Paper Abstract:
|
The aim of this research is to develop a strategy to create a three-dimensional information space to navigate through and deliver a set of information. The information space is a digital, dynamic environment that can present complex data structures to the user. The availability of information has increased tremendously with the establishment of the World Wide Web. As the volume and complexity of the information grows and the power and sophistication of computer technology increases, more advanced techniques are needed to visualize and access data structures. In human-computer interaction the metaphor used so far has been the two-dimensional image of a desktop with folders and textual links, in part because of technological limitations, in part because scientists, who are familiar with flowcharting and textual lists, created the metaphor. It is time now that theorists and artists bring content and sophistication to digital worlds. |
