Paper Abstract:
|
Since its first appearance, the IEC 61508 standard has been the topic of controversial discussions. Safety critical system developers agree about its importance, but many complain that it is too complex, generic and difficult to apply. To assess the standards practical impact, a Web-based system has been developed and deployed. Its major goal is to enable widespread interviews and examine how the standard has been used in practice. The system also serves as a best practice repository offering its users a possibility to exchange the experience in use of this important industrial standard. |
