Paper Abstract:
|
Leadership is an art to ensure that employees attain a set target and is characterised by having a clear task, a self-driven
team that wants to achieve the target and understanding the employee needs. This study evaluated the effect of situational
leadership in an engineering organisation as a tool to enhance organisational performance. Engineering organisations are
normally led by highly technical people and hence the need for application of situational leadership is critical. A designed
questionnaire was used to gather information on the status of applied situational leadership in the organisation and
circulated through Google forms. Twenty responses were received and analysed using Excel pie charts. The questionnaire
tested the various forms of leadership applied in situational leadership including the S1: telling/directing and the R1
follower; the S2: selling/coaching with the R2 follower; the S3 participating/facilitating/supporting with the R3 follower
and lastly the S4: delegating/observing with the R4 follower: From this study, it was found that the engineering organisation
applied the various situational leadership model in its organization to enhance organisational performance and staff
motivation. |
