Paper Abstract:
|
Virtual reality (VR) is a computer-generated three-dimensional environment representing the real or imaginary world with
the virtual world through various sensory channels. The multisensory immersion feature of VR (Immersive VR-I-VR)
reduces the user's awareness of what is happening in the surroundings. The use of immersive virtual reality interventions
to enhance cognitive, social, and emotional knowledge and skills has increased. Nevertheless, while VR is used for
professional training in various fields, its application in higher education and teacher education has only evolved recently.
This study aimed to develop and test the implementation of an I-VR intervention to enhance teacher education students'
cultural sensitivity. It used a systematic empirical approach, collecting quantitative and qualitative evidence. The findings
indicated that immersive virtual reality (VR) intervention improves intercultural sensitivity or intercultural competence,
significantly contributing to educational practices and technological applications in cultural learning. |
