Paper Abstract:      We developed a CSCL chat tool ‘REACH’ which displays users’ key typing process in real time to realizes swift responses. It avoids congestion, misunderstanding affects, and improved ease of conversation. In this paper, we added automatic display function of dialog acts (DAs) by face mark ASCII Art. However, learners commented that it was hard to know DAs. This is because of poor inventory of face marks, buggy algorithm, and user’s preference. However, they liked its informal atmosphere. Also, ASCII art was preferred than GIF icon face mark or Dialog Act tag text.
