Paper Abstract:
|
Human resource (HR) systems are now widely recognized as a critical success factor for implementing successful ERP and efficient interaction between employees and their organization. The employees in each organization are considered one of its most valuable resources, and HR systems are considered the backbone of any organization. For an HR system to be efficient, effective, and satisfactory, it is expected to meet various usability criteria. Different usability evaluation methods are available to assess a systems usability. Employing different usability evaluation methods can offer more reliable and interesting results. MenaMe HR is one of the famous HR systems in the Arabian Gulf region that supports the main features of personnel information management such as payroll information, training, career planning, and appraisal management, among others. This paper aims to comprehensively assess MenaMes usability using four usability methods: heuristics evaluation (HE), cognitive walkthrough, competitive research, and automated self-reporting (through user testing). Each of the them contributed to assessing the MenaMe HR system. The assessment results have yielded that system learnability, navigation, presentation, and task support are associated with more usability problems. Understandability and findability have been also linked with a number of usability issues through competitive research and automated self-reporting methods. This research also explores how each method reveals different types of problems. |
