Paper Abstract:	In this paper, the work system life cycle (WSLC) is critically analyzed from the perspective of information systems (IS) and organizations. The analysis of the WSLC model reveals that the major weaknesses of the WSLC model culminate in two issues. Firstly, the model lacks specific explanations on certain areas, including the “decision diamond”. Secondly, there is misalignment between the application are of the life cycle and its respective software development based terminology. As a result, a revision of the WSLC model is proposed with explanation of the previously undefined elements and a new refined application scope. As a conceptual advance, the paper proposes renewal as the core aspect of the IS life cycle.
