Paper Abstract:
|
Green IT (or green computing) has recently become at least a trend, if not an imperative, for many companies. The aim of
this article is to investigate the green IT research field in order to survey some theoretical issues and practical initiatives
to date. Thus, the first section synthesizes the government policies, incentives and sanctions in matter of green IT,
whereas the second section reports some remarkable organizational strategies and practices. Two recurring concerns can
be noticed in those sections, addressing the questions of electronic waste recycling and energy efficiency. Finally, the
fourth section exposes a practical green initiative implemented by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Luxembourg,
namely a dematerialization solution, as well as its benefits, before concluding. |
