Paper Abstract:

Information systems for Web environments (Web systems) have assumed a preponderant role in the recent market
evolution, having facilitated economies globalization and the access to a new package of innovative services, promoting
interconnection between all the agents.
This article presents a study (appealing to cost analyses/benefit matrixes for both technician and functional levels) for a
Portuguese company specialized on development of production management software. Some techniques were used to
gather information about Web system needs for manufacturing business, like bibliography analysis about the best web
development platforms and a resume of the most transactional processes of the actual system (to avoid hard resource
processes).
This company sight for the evolution of its current products (already implemented in more than 100 industries) for a Web
platform, gathering for scability facilities and the capacity for working with several types of databases. This paper intend
to help this company choosing the best web development platform. |
