Paper Abstract:
|
This paper reports work in progress for developing new, single point of access, interactive web-based simulator quality
management tools and services, for integration into LMS(s), that improves skills upgrading processes in mechanical
industry and welding in general. The services improve the teaching quality management designs, and the learning
environment in vocational education training programs. The advantage of online simulator tools is that students and
instructors may dynamical play with the essential welding parameters in order to visually understand the tolerance
window occurring in real life production facilities, and make up alternative decision routes that may handle both technical
and economical production tasks. Advanced mathematical calculations are hidden, by utilizing advanced online
Computer Algebra Systems (e.g. MapleNET), such that skilled welder specialists that dont have any special
mathematical knowledge may use them through their browser. The services will be available in 2009. |
