Paper Abstract:      This paper presents a web-based music notation editor which has as main objective to help teachers and students in music through the learning process of four-part harmony techniques. Compared to current notation software, the editor improves the usability and the interaction techniques commonly used in the field of four-part voice leading, specially reading and writing harmony exercises. Its design includes features such as automatic voice selection, a wheel layout floating menu, shortcut zones, automatic persistence and no installation required. The application was integrated into the A3 project – Harmony Analysis Environment, developed by the Music Department at Universidad de los Andes (Bogota, Colombia), to enhance education with new technological and interactive tools. This editor aims to provide an e-learning experience to students in/out of class and to be an e-learning tool for teachers to propose exercises, to keep the information related to each student, and to send feedback to the students about their solutions.
