Paper Abstract:
|
Engineering enterprise and complex software systems requires distributed collaborative software engineering (DCSE). Top development risks in DCSE involve miscommunication and subsystem interactions and complexity. The risks are expected to increase as software grows larger and more complex. To tackle these risks, there is a need for more intelligent, flexible, and adaptable tool support for coordination and collaboration among multiple software engineering teams, working on multiple parts of the software system, at different phases of the development lifecycle, using many commercial and in-house developed tools. This need is addressed in our research, sponsored by National Research Council and NASA. We have designed a new Web-based multi-agent architecture for DCSE. This paper presents the new architecture and the work underway to develop a prototype of this new system. It also provides the background information for our research project. |
