Paper Abstract:      Cloud computing reflects a new way in consuming and using IT infrastructure and resources. When adopting cloud computing, users are required to dismantle their current technologies, transferring the control of their IT resources and data over to cloud service providers. This is a distinct departure from other information systems (IS) and information technology (IT) that have penetrated the market to date. This paper reviews and synthesizes the view of extant literature on cloud computing adoption, and identifies factors that need to be addressed by organizations embracing cloud technologies. Findings from this review suggest that cloud computing adoption need to address a number of technological, organizational, environmental and resource issues. While understanding the implications of these challenges could help companies adopting cloud computing operate more strategically, the need to explore best-practice cloud computing adoption models is highlighted. The paper concludes by recommending three broad areas of research toward building best-practice models of cloud computing adoption.
