Paper Abstract:      A Wireless Sensor Network can be performed three services: sensing, processing, and communication. These services must take into account energy consumption because this is a key factor for the network lifetime and accuracy of information. In this way, it is important to estimate the energy that will be consumed by the application. This work proposes a mathematical model to estimate the energy consumption necessary to run the application in the processing unit of the particular sensor node, and describes how the hardware and the compiler affect the energy consumption. Our results demonstrated that 90% of the energy consumed during data-processing refers to the data-transfer and branch instructions. Besides, energy consumption reduction due to single optimization classes deemed too shy, even for the most effective ones. In the other hand, the combination of optimizations can lead to drastically reduction on energy consumption.
