Paper Abstract:      Formal sex education is a key strategy to help prevent unplanned teenage pregnancies, sexually transmitted diseases, sexual abuse and social discrimination. However, research highlights human sexuality is a difficult issue for educators to communicate with young people in traditional class settings. The growing tendency for young adolescents to communicate in online social settings presents opportunities to explore whether technology may be employed in this area. This paper presents a study investigating the use of a virtual learning environment to support communication between teachers and students in a Relationship and Sexuality Education class setting.
