Paper Abstract:
|
The search for an appropriated substitute to be hired involves the analysis of a large amount of information, so that those
responsible spend too much time processing huge volumes of data or base their choices on the recommendation of others.
This problem is increased in the scientific scenario. Due to the lack of resources and the low number of official
examinations there turnover is high in the scientific environment. Therefore, researchers remain little time with their
research projects, requiring institutions to look for new professionals to hire within their own environment. In most of the
cases, research staff is not, unfortunately, suitable for the positions. This paper presents the BEE tool (in Portuguese BEE
is the acronym for a language that means: Search of Expert by Example). This tool indicates professionals to be hired
through the support of Information Visualization techniques that assess competences and the working contexts of the
professional that is leaving a post. The visualization usage streamlines| the replacement process as it provides a clearly
and concise representation of parameter values the user considers as the most important to be used during the assessment
of applicants. This approach is part of a Scientific Knowledge Management Project, which is being employed at some
research institutes in Brazil. |
