Paper Abstract:
|
Based on critical transdisciplinary research methodology, this paper analyses the role of academic community in the network society and shows that, in this specific context, small evolutionary steps are more efficient than revolution. Based on responsibility of each individual for own actions, it develops the Freirean model of the role of academic community in the network society. The developed model starts from conscientization, and develops into a series of steps that make a never ending circle very similar to Freires codifications and decodifications. It reminds that the role of academic community in the network society is directly associated with the question what kind of world we would like to live in. Following Freire's idea that all education is political, it calls for active personal development and social engagement for achieving personal ideals. In this way, the paper replaces pessimism contained in contemporary critiques of global education with moderately optimistic academic direct action. |
