Paper Abstract:
|
A project focusing on using mobile devices for learning science was initiated and conducted over a two-year period (2007-2009) in the city of Tromsø, in the north of Norway. Focus was both on training the teachers in how to use the equipment as well as investing in state-of-the-art equipment. The project was evaluated and researchers found several positive factors related to learning, such as increased motivation and increased learning activities. The study reports that both teachers and students were satisfied. However, one year afterwards the equipment is not in use anymore. This paper raises the issue of why a seemingly successful project dies, when the project period is over. |
