Paper Abstract:
|
The development of effective teamwork is one of the most important factors in sustainable development. When the interests of the many are prioritized over individual interests, the formation of a collective identity and the optimization of group activities can be made possible. Educational environments such as schools and universities can serve as ideal places for learning the principles of teamwork. It seems that one of the major educational achievements, especially at universities, is learning these principles. In the present article, the development of teamwork at Iranian university, as an example of a university in transition, has been studied. This study has been conducted using data from a national survey and the account of the experience of directing two cases of teamwork in two university classes. The results of the study show that factors such as lack of trust in the abilities of other team members, selfish individualism and pre-determined authoritative division of labor are among the main obstacles to the realization of effective teamwork in Iranian university classes. |
