Paper Abstract:
|
The goal of this study was to study the importance of ICT in the preparation of Telehealth Public Policy Regional Protocols in Latin America. It was accessed the use ICT in telehealth as a fundamental tool for inclusion and to improve the quality of life of the general public, as well as its contribution in widening societys access to health services and reducing regional, geographical and political barriers. It stresses that the different social, political and geographical realities need to be understood in a regional manner, that is, through telehealth public policy protocols, which are decisive in guiding the choice and implementation of the ICT. It explains that the importance and relevance of the ICT in the whole telehealth process may be observed in the Telehealth Public Policies Protocols in Latin America project, developed by the health ministries of the countries involved and coordinated by the Health for Technology Center of the Medical School of the Federal University of Minas Gerais (UFMG, in Portuguese) Brazil, with the active participation of several institutions: PAHO, BID, COPANT, RNP, ABRASO, e-CLAC, ATALACC, Ibero-American Telehealth Association and representatives from 12 countries from the region. It concludes that the development of a regional standard of minimum requisites for the transmission of data and infrastructure is a fundamental base for the implementation and development of a telehealth project for Latin America and that ICTs were fundamental for enabling the technical and instrumental workability conditions required to achieve the proposed goals. |
