Paper Abstract:
|
In computer games virtual character (agent) development tends to refer to those features that augment the characters skills and experiences in order to be challenging in the game. It seldom concerns personality, emotions and social skills features that we believe would improve the believability of these characters and game experience of the players. In this research we have developed a Personality Module in StateCraft, a software version of the multiplayer strategy board game Diplomacy. We aim to add personality to agents in order to make the agent more believable and fun to play with. The Personality Module was evaluated both through simulations in all-agent games and through human player testing. The results show that agent personality affects the agents performance. The results from player test also indicate that personality affects the experience of players. |
