Paper Abstract:
|
It is clearly articulated that Japanese corporations do not consider the IT investment in human resources development as a
priority. Meanwhile, e-learning are used more widely in recent years, and corporations increasingly utilize IT to support
human resource development beyond the scope of personal information management system. So called IT-based Human
Resource Development (HRD) is a new initiative that has started in a variety of forms in leading corporations. For
example, IT system is used as a platform for corporate universities so that the system of human resource development is
reorganized and career development efforts are supported. At the same time, the gap of utilization level is widening
among corporations, which would give a great influence on corporate competitiveness.
In this study, the issues and potential of IT-based Human Resource Development are discussed based on the recent trend
in the utilization of IT in human resource area as one of the fields in corporate human resource management. |
