Paper Abstract:
|
Continuous professional development (CPD) is recognised as an important part of ongoing development of professional
competence in all fields. This is more so, when we consider teachers professional development in developing countries
where the standards of basic education are low and the pre-service training of a few years which when available, is
inadequate to prepare teachers for their role. This paper examines and chronicles the development process of an online
education project for continuous professional development of teachers in the Maldives. By highlighting important
decisions made in the beginning phase, the situation before and at the beginning of the project, I argue for the necessity to
evaluate what occurred during the project and the outcomes. Studying the project could pave the way for sustainable
online continuous professional development for teachers in developing countries |
