Paper Abstract:
|
Information and communication technology (ICT) has created new forms of working practice known as telework or
flexible work. ICTs have enabled companies to become more flexible in terms of work process and structures. Employees
are able to work from homes, customer offices or other locations without regularly commuting to employer premises.
This paper aims to measure the dominant factors affecting the decision-making process concerning telework adoption and
its impacts on organization resources. Data was collected from 90 decision makers, selected from a representative sample
of selected business services companies in the Netherlands. Our results revealed 16.7% of the companies have applied
telework. Before telework was adopted, employers also saw it as a tool to improve productivity and working conditions
for their employees. Finally, the impacts of telework on organizational resources are evaluated and discussed. |
