Paper Abstract:      In the current literature there are very few references to screencasts as a valid teaching method for higher education. On the other hand, learning management systems such as Moodle have been thoroughly studied both at national and international level, and among all the age groups. The aim of this study is to compare several teaching methods and eLearning tools, including screencasts and Moodle activities, to discover which of them are more useful to promote the learning experience of undergraduate health students. Those teaching methods and eLearning tools were used in a blended-learning course on conducting research projects. The research was based on a case study conducted in a Portuguese private polytechnic school, with students which initiated their first year of higher education in 2007/2008. The data collection methods included a survey answered by the students and the Moodle’s log file analysis, as well as attendance to classes. The findings suggested that the students prefer the blended-learning modality and elected the screencasts, both as the most effective and favourite tool to promote the acquisition of knowledge and competences in the course.
