Paper Abstract:
|
Execution performance of bioinformatics workflows in cloud federated environments is strongly affected by data storage and retrieval, due to the enormous volumes of information about genome sequences. Particularly, execution times of these workflows may be lowered if the best clouds are chosen for data storage. In this context, this paper presents a storage policy for files used in a bioinformatics workflow that aims to reduce files transfer time, and therefore contributes for a faster execution of the workflow. Besides, a case study is presented, using the BioNimbuZ platform, in which the choice of a cloud to store one file is based on one index proposed to send and retrieve files, and after executes one workflow. Our results showed that our storage policy significantly improved times for transferring files, and thus lowered the total workflow execution time. |
